Thanks for checking in with us once again, for a sneak preview of the latest happenings at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center. Today, we have the list of winners and runners-up in the NSRA New Product of the Year judging, as announced at the NSRA Industry Reception held last evening. As usual, we judges had our work cut out for us, though you may have noticed in our Thursday Edition (here at streetrodderweb.com), where we highlighted a few of the offerings. Once again, we find it necessary to thank the respective companies for the dedication necessary in design, tooling, and manufacturing, as any new product launch is a major undertaking. Without the wealth of creative minds we have to draw from, and the abundance of desirable products available, our personal hot rods would not be anywhere near as distinctive, attractive, comfortable, or pleasant to drive. Thanks for all the hard work, folks! The page you happen to be viewing will be our last installment directly from Louisville 2002, as Sunday will be our day to travel home. Before leaving here we expect to take care of some last minute visiting with good friends and (maybe) squeeze in some time for a special parts shopping trip for projects of our own, if time permits. We sincerely hope you enjoyed visiting the NSRA Street Rod Nationals through our eyes and ears. Well, let us get this puppy ramped up so we can deliver yet another dose of cyber delight for you to view. As magazine editors, we fully understand the fact that you have choices when it comes to reading material. We thank you for helping make Street Rodder magazine the favored publication it has become over the years. And please realize that we share many of the same passions as you do. However, not only do we enjoy building and driving these cool old cars, we also love writing about them, too. It was unusual to see the... It was unusual to see the Street Rodder Road Tour car without a whole crowd of people checking it out. After all, most of those who looked at it also have a chance to win it! We understand there will be an equally impressive car beginning to be assembled for next year, as well. At any given time, you could see our hard-working booth divas signing up entrants and setting up new subscribers to all the popular Primedia titles throughout the entire Street Rod Nationals. Former Street Rodder Editor... Former Street Rodder Editor (for 10 years), and current V.P. Group Publisher of the Primedia Street Rod & Performance Group, Tom Vogele, was honored once again by his peers. During the Friday night NSRA Industry Reception, Tom was selected to receive the SRMA (Street Rod Marketing Alliance) Industry Recognition Award, for his contributions of over 10 years service to the street rod industry. Congrats, Boss Man! Our friends at ididit received... Our friends at ididit received the Best New Product award in Group A (products that retail for up to $100) for the adjustable under-dash-mount column drop. This new item accepts a shorty column using two column drops, or a standard column utilizing one column drop and a floor mount. We were told the company was recently relocated to a larger, more modern facility. In Group B (where items retail... In Group B (where items retail between $101 and $500), Legens Hot Rod Shop was honored for its new Fuel Filler Concealment kit. Steve Legens explained, this crafty product came about in 1998 after building a pickup to debut in Louisville. The truck was finished just in time, and there was no really functional (and attractive) way to hide the fuel filler. That might be called invention out of necessity. Those cool guys from Vintage... Those cool guys from Vintage Air were recognized in Group C (parts retailing for $501 and up) for the Serpentine Drive System. The product is unique because it does not bolt to the cylinder heads or the intake manifold. It carries optimal spring tension for your serpentine belt, and the pulley sizes are properly dialed in for desirable drive speeds on your components. Runner-Up, Group A, RodDoors.... Runner-Up, Group A, RodDoors. Fire extinguisher with recessed mounting plate. Runner-up, Group A. Vintage... Runner-up, Group A. Vintage Air, Tite Fit Duct Adapter. Runner-Up, Group B.
