What you see are a lot of vehicles with Louisiana plates. Locals like Covington, Louisiana-resident Ronnie Sandifer and Metarie, Louisiana-native Mike Schlumbredth get their entries in early to make the show's 300-vehicle cut and to share aisle space with the "big boys."
Sandifer has owned his Dahlia-blue '32 Ford for 31 years and this event is the biggest indoor car show he attends during the year-it's become a tradition. Schlumbredth, who makes all the local events with his bright yellow '37 Chevy custom rod coupe, shares the joy of being in the 'Dome.
Jefferson, Louisiana's Larry Champagne found his 350 Chevy-powered, white-and-teal green '37 Plymouth squeezed between classic Hemi-powered Mopars. The contrast of custom hot rod and factory musclecar was a fitting statement.
A few steps away, custom pickups and imports showed the wide variety of personal tastes and new trends. Their paint jobs and customizations rivaled those of the street rodders.
What they all have in common, though, is that their vehicles are, as the local Cajuns say, "bon ton."
