Once inside, you were greeted by Ralph's Diner as the cornerstone of the happening-making everything totally wicked since the diner is a well-known landmark in the Worcester area (being that it was originally built back in the '20s). Sometime in the mid-'80s, it was relocated to its present resting spot and attached to the front of a brick building that used to house a horse- and buggy-equipped firehouse...bitchin' or what! Let's not forget that new owner Vincent Hemmeter still serves up some of the tastiest two-fisted burgers in town, while the upstairs of the diner has been transformed into a nostalgia-fed Rockabilly roadhouse where bands that were handpicked by the lovely Miss Sara Jade were ready to rip the roof off once dusk hit. This year's assortment didn't disappoint either, with blistering sets being provided by Psychobilly Cadillac, Satan's Teardrops, The Coffin Lids, The Old Howards, and the Spurs-who wrapped the night by almost sending the roof of the club airborne! Adding plenty of personality between set changes were the glamorous gals of the Thru the Keyhole Burlesque who had everyone remembering back to when using your imagination was neat!
Making it all complete were vendors like Rick Hamilton from Galaxy Rod and Custom who had all the right stuff for your ride, Peter Bennett and Michele Caron's kool tiki hut selling the hippest must-haves, and Brian "Spider" Papa laying down killer lines. All in all, it was a real fine-tuned show that pulled in members from historical groups like the Ty-Rods and the Boston Area Roadsters to 'core clubs like the Rumblers from NY, the Rattlers, and the Stumblin' Idles outta' Boston. It was great to see a who's who of historical rides on the asphalt with their owners, well-known builders (you know who you are), and plenty of young dedicated rodders mixing it up for an event that kept it all real. All we know is that by the time 1:00 a.m. rolled in, the last group of soup-jobs roared to life to head out and grab that last gear change while wrapping up the end of the season with a wicked time! Later daddio!
