Outstanding Rat Rod
Tom Haas took home the Brian Brennan (editor Street Rodder) award for Outstanding Rat Rod for his Deuce highboy coupe. The car features a Buick Nailhead complete with tri-power, the always popular Deuce and-a-half military bucket seats, and the very slick early wheel covers. The hood is a '32 Chevy with the four wide louvers which we see growing in popularity, the race car influenced side steering poking through the cowl, and note the nifty exhaust peeking through the Deuce 'rails. It is here that the exhaust is uncorked, note the plug and wrench.

Other happy campers were Alex Test with his '49 Merc as he received the A-Brothers award presented by Mike Alexander; Tony Tierney with his Deuce received an award presented by former Street Rodder editor Pat Ganahl; Dave Lohr with his Model A took home two awards one presented by Troy Trepanier and another presented by former Street Rodder staff member on behalf of Ol Skol Rods Jerry Weesner; and, another mutli-award winner was Dan Shaw (Josh Shaw's dad) for his very Kool, loaded with patina Deuce pickup. He took home honors from Chuck Miller and Chip Foose. While there is no denying the truck is kool it's what in the pickup bed that everyone wants-you gotta see to believe! Other notables from within the industry who picked personal best efforts were Jimmy Shine of SO-CAL Speed Shop fame as he presented the award to the builder of Jeff Skeve's Deuce highboy roadster Dennis Lesky of the Ionia Hot Rod Shop in Michigan. A very Kool award was the Dynamat Young Gun award developed for a first attempt at rodding and this year it was Arron Blatter for his '32 Ford pickup. And the crowd favorite was Ashley Webb as she handed out the Chick's Pic and it went to Nick Giacallione for his '32 Vicky.
