This years Detroit Autorama has filled its 600,000 sq. ft. alright, but it's the overall quality of cars that has everyone talking. While the quality of contending cars is always high at Detroit it appears that the nearly 1,000 vehicles present came "loaded."
Areas of particular note are the rows of specialty cars such as Mopar alley, the Ford Galaxie collection and both are totally awesome. Coupe this with many car clubs, whose displays are of a very high level, and you have a show floor that is something to look at.
The toy section is filled with every kind of toy, memorabilia, and vintage printed material you can imagine. If you find yourself into Hot Wheels, printed ads, t-shirts, decals, and most every make of die cast toy, this section is for you. Judging by the shear number of people who visited this area we would have to say it was one of the popular spots.
The Street Rodder staff had a hard time staying away from the Pinstripers Jamboree auction. There were so many cool items up for auction, that the magazine boys will be going home a little lighter in the wallets than when they arrived. All the money is donated to the Rainbow Connection of Rochester, Mich., for terminilly ill children. We're feeling positive as the money was well spent. Besides, we get to decorate our offices with some of the Koolest original pinstriped art in the country.
Street Rodder editor Brian Brennan was having a blast at the chrity auction. Among other items, he is proud owner of a "Rat Boy" toilet seat autographed by Ed Roths' wife Trixie. | | Former Street Rodder senior editor and long time striper Jerry Wessner donated some his own art at the charity auction. Editor Brennan was again high-bidder and is the proud owner of the fine art. |
The Roth family was on hand selling Ed Roth's original t-shirt designs. As far as we could tell these were one of the hotter items as the line was two deep all weekend. | | |
