Annually, one of the treasure valley's most popular sporting events is the Boise Roadster Show. Held for better than 30 years at the Western Idaho Fair Expo in March, the ISCA Western Division Championship is one of the largest AA-sanctioned custom car shows in America. Naturally, an incredible lineup of cars and bikes appeared at the ISCA Championship, and of course, the show again featured the annual presentation of the highly sought-after Goldmark Award, as well as the Master-Builder Award, which is annually presented to one of the show's top builders/supporters.
In front of a near capacity turnout, the 34th annual Boise Roadster Show attracted a tremendous array of rods and customs to one of the biggest motorsports weekends in the five-state intermountain West. Presented by Les Schwab Tires, the four-day GM Performance ISCA Championship event saw competitors attend from eight states and two Canadian provinces.
Winning the show's top prize, Steve Tracy from Gallatin, Tennessee, secured the coveted Goldmark Award with his remarkable Chromezilla '32 Ford roadster. The roadster features some truly amazing engineering and flawless craftsmanship by the father-and-son builder team of Jeff and Jesse Greening. The green flamed beauty features chrome, chrome, and more chrome--a trademark of Tracy's Advanced Plating Company based just outside of Nashville. Tracy held off the stiff challenge by a slew of awesome street rods to take home the gold. Long-time Treasure Valley street rodder Galen Blanc from Boise, who debuted an all-steel '36 Ford roadster, was selected for the 25th Master-Builder Award.
Looking ahead to next year, the dates are already set for what is shaping up to be a very big weekend of rod and custom fun as the 35th anniversary of the Roadster Show returns to the Idaho Expo on March 8-11, 2007.
