Andys Picnic The Brizios
It all started here, with Sue and Andy Brizio. It would be tough to find another family that has contributed more to the street-rodding hobby and industry than the Brizios.

Andys Picnic
Pete Scialabba, from San Jose, CA, has owned some pretty nice hot rods in his time, and his latest--an original '28 Ford highboy covered with red paint and Tommy "The Greek"-inspired pinstriping from nose to tail--has got to be one of the best.

Chevrolet introduced its Suburban in 1936, but the owner of this two-tone green '49 (we don't know his name because he didn't fill out his window sticker) had it set up with red artillery wheels wrapped in wide whites.

Dennis Incardone, from Fairfield, CA, brought his Zipper '27 roadster to the show, and it was one of the finest builds we've seen on these cars.

That's Dave Schaub on the far right grilling up the meat he brought from his store in Palo Alto. Sure, every event has burgers, but you haven't lived until you've tried his specially prepared Fred burgers or artichoke linguica!

Can a '48 Plymouth look cool? You bet! Especially when it's Bob Neher's coupe, which he drove in from nearby Grass Valley. Equipped with a ZZ4/350 combo, Bob's rod also featured some great scallop graphics.

Where have all the phaetons gone? Apparently to the San Francisco Bay Area, because there were many different versions, including this fairly rare (originally only about 3,500 were made) '39 Ford four-door tub. This sano resto belongs to Gino Icardi from Redwood City.

The traditional look is alive and well in NorCal, and exemplified by a plethora of Model T and A roadsters at Andy's Picnic. This '27 roadster, owned by Gary Hubback, used a '37 drivetrain and steering wheel, a '32 shell and chassis, and '33/34 spoked rims to achieve a correct look.

It's hard to find track-nose Ts that look as good as this one, and sometimes simple is better. Mike Johnston uses a Chevy powerplant backed to a Powerglide trans in his '27, plus a perfect complement of wires and rubber.

Think they're all Fords in California? Not so! Check out Don Minear's '41 Chevy from Danville. Caps 'n' rings, wide whites, and an ultra-deep black paint job make this coupe a standout.

Square-window wheels and an extreme flame job that seems to go on forever may be classic hot-rod fare, but Jim Hart's '40 Ford sedan sports an LS1 under that Deluxe hood.
