It's still early and there are a lot more cars and displays still to be moved in but the early birds have got a start. Normally you expect to see a beautiful show car all shinny and ready to be admired. Well, here's a view all of us don't see to often--move in before all the glitz and glamour is applied.
Can you identify any of the cars? Maybe if you have been paying attention to what's been going on in the world of cars. The little black modified should be easily recognized as a Dan Webb creation that he and his daughter Ashley pieced together. But what about that super narrow modified minus body sitting right next to Ashley's roller skate--it's the latest from the very imaginative mind of Dan. More to be seen on this wild ride later.
Can you identify the Lil' John Buttera Willy's, well it is covered but look closely. There are plenty of Willy's in the running this year. How about the latest creation from the workbench of Barry Lobeck the Sam Magarino owned '40 Ford convertible, it too is covered but the keen eye should spot it. And what about Gene Gerber's '36 boat tail roadster--it's easy to spot. Then there is Rich and Donna Gregorski of Largo, Florida and their '52 Henry J sedan--this one should be an easy spot.
It's move in time and you will see plenty of people moving quickly and some frantically while others just stand there amazed and bewildered wondering just how all of this is going to come together. You will see people laying carpet, positioning cars, tires still wrapped in plastic (this is Detroit in the winter), and plenty more strange sights before the doors open for real on Friday.
Stay tuned as we bring you updates several times a day beginning with move in, through Friday, Saturday and Sunday when the coveted Don Ridler Memorial Award is presented. You will be the first to know and see by watching www.streetrodderweb.com
