The Outsiders
Yes, there were hundreds of show cars featured inside the seven large halls, but the area between each of the buildings was opened up for folks to drive their rides onto the showgrounds and park them while they took in the event.
STREET RODDER took advantage of having these daily drivers at our disposal and awarded a STREET RODDER Pick to two lucky winners, one on Saturday and the other on Sunday. It seems that even the daily drivers found at this show were as nice as some of the high-end cars found in other shows. The downside is there was no information in the windshields of these cars, so we don't know who owns most of them, but they know who they are!

The STREET RODDER Pick for Saturday went to Pomona, CA, local John Madden's all-black '32 DeSoto three-window coupe. John kept his coupe all Mopar with a 360ci Dodge backed by a 727 trans and Posi rearend. Congrats, John! | There were many vendors in and out of the buildings at the Grand National Roadster Show, but none had the unique display that Brookville Roadster had. The '32 three-window car halves all crated up had a lot of folks stopping to drool. | Who needs paint? The owner of this chopped Chevy molded the fenders to the body. The Cadillac sombreros and wide whites looked sharp! |
Custom cars from the '20s through the '60s were welcome between the buildings, and many of the cars looked as though they would have been right at home inside any of the great halls. | The Suede Palace was full, so the overflow of cars that could have gone inside crowded around the exterior of the building. You could really find every taste and style expressed with the cars in attendance. | Three different members of the STREET RODDER staff took photos of this cool Chrysler wagon at different times, which shows how much each must have liked it! |
The STREET RODDER Pick for Sunday went to Kurt Rothweiler for his stunning '39 Ford. Outfitted with a big-block Ford, the flamed coupe rolled on large B. Coddington wheels and was stitched with cream leather. | | |
