The NSRA Nationals North is held every fall in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and it is the event that wraps up the summer-long rod run season for street rodders in the Midwest. With more than 3,000 participants-making it one of the biggest of the NSRA regional events-"The Zoo," as it is fondly called, is the perfect place to start the final STREET RODDER / PPG Road Tour of the season.
Sponsored by the Performance World Custom Car and Truck Show of Toronto, this leg marks the first time in its 12-year history that the Road Tour will travel outside the borders of the United States. As we make our way to the NSRA Northeast Nationals in Burlington, Vermont, we will experience the sights, sounds, and hospitality of our street rod friends north of the border.
Following the awards on Sunday afternoon at the Nationals North, the Performance World Tour will head toward Port Huron, Michigan, where we will cross into Canada and spend the evening in Sarnia. On Monday morning, we will make the short trip to the Legendary Motorcar Company Ltd. in Milton, Ontario, Canada, home of the Speed Channel's show "Dream Car Garage." At the Legendary Motorcar Company, members of the Motor City Car Club of Oshawa will join us, and have volunteered to be our guides for our two days of travel in Canada.
From Milton, west of Toronto, we will make the trip to Oshawa, just east of Toronto. After checking in to the hotel we will pay a visit to Parkwood, the grand estate of "Colonel Sam" R.S. McLaughlin, the founder of General Motors of Canada. After our Parkwood tour, our friends at the Motor City Car Club have invited us to be their guests at their clubhouse for an evening barbecue.
On Tuesday morning, the Performance World Custom Car and Truck Show leg of the Road Tour will make the 150-mile trip to the beautiful 1,000 Islands area along the St. Lawrence Seaway at the Canadian and United States border. From there we'll cross back into the United States on Wednesday. Our travels then take us through the beautiful Adirondack Mountains to the famous Lake Placid area, and then on to Burlington, Vermont, on Thursday. The Performance World leg will be a fantastic way to wrap up the 2007 Road Tour season.
