2008 Grand National Roadster Show - Live Coverage!

Richard Munz has done a service to the hot rodding community in recent years by not only restoring one, but three historically significant Bonneville race cars.

The blue and white Esser/Leever/Ruter '29 Ford roadster ran 169.17mph in 1958 at Bonneville in the D Modified Roadster Class powered by a Hilborn-injected '49 Olds mill. On the left is the Chuck Porter Body Shop rear-engined T roadster, known as "The Platypus", that ran a 211.64mph one way time in 1958 powered by a Hilborn-injected, Ardun Merc.

Many may remember Jim Khougaz's '32 roadster that was restored recently, but Jim also ran a '27 T rear-engined roadster at Bonneville in the D Modified Roadster Class powered by a 467ci Chrysler. Jim pushed the car to a speed of 207.85mph before breaking an axle and flipping over. While Richard has made quite an impact restoring historical race cars, he's also been busy racing himself in the Munz/Busby '32 Ford roadster. Powered by an Ardun Merc, the car set a new class record at Bonneville in Oct. 2007 with a speed of 155.443mph in the XXF/Street Roadster Class.

The motorcycle section of the GNRS has become quite popular over the last few years, growing to become a sideshow of its own. Here's a quick snippet of some of the bikes we dug from the show.
