A Real Hot Rod Girl - It's amazing what a girl can find in a barn
Every hot rodder has a story or has heard the story about the-barn find. Normally it's a guy story, not so this time.
Megan Boyd of Ohio (and a HAMB member) is a local rodder who enjoys her cars, especially when the have that hot rod attitude. It should be told that Megan is no stranger for cars working for Motorcar Portfolio in Canton, Ohio in the public relations and marketing department.
Her '53 Chevy, parked with others in the Detroit Autorama Extreme presented by 89X in the basement of the Detroit Autorama, sports a 216-inch GMC straight six hooked to a three-speed tranny. So far so good but take a closer look and you will see resting between Fenton split exhaust manifold and valve cover is an incredible rare Fenton two-pot intake with a Rajo upper intake staggered inboard-making for a tri-power of sorts.
She found the car near Wilmont, Ohio from an old timer by the name of James Parrott who original built the car in the '70s. In the fall of '07 she got on her garage face and made some changes to her driver. Everything from car shows to the grocery store to work you can see Megan driving the '53-racking up 2,500 miles in the past year.
It's fun to watch other rodders give her Chevy (and her!) the once over but when they see this very rare intake the questions begin. Way to go girl, now you have them talking.
