Another strong contender this year for the Ridler came from Harold and Rhea Schrader. They brought their 1935 Ford, which was designed and built by Dave Tucci Hot Rods out of Marcy, NY. The PPG paint was handled by RJ Customs while McFarland Upholstery stitched up the curvaceous interior.

57Th Detroit Autorama 1933 Ford Cabriolet
There is always something interesting coming out of Barry Lobeck's shop in Cleveland, OH, and this year two recent builds debuted at the Autorama. This one, a '33 Ford Cabriolet, is owned by Chris Conly of Milan, MI, and was another contender for this year's Ridler. Lots of subtle body mods and a Hemi motor `tween the framerails made this one stand out.

57Th Detroit Autorama 1940 Ford Sedan
Another Pirelli Great 8 finalist was Nick Pinto's tangerine '40 Ford sedan. It's rare to find the later-model Fords in Ridler contention, but Nick's was just that nice.

Bill Whetstone's '50 Ford wasn't in contention (but we like it anyway) and was part of the Cavalcade of Kustoms display, which features a few dozen non-competing vehicles that showcase the many build styles associated with `50s and `60s custom cars.

A lot of interesting body mods (including a taillight treatment we hadn't seen before) on Ron Shuman's steel '33 Ford three-window. Of course the 427 and five-speed gave us the warm fuzzies, too.
