Pinstriping Jamboree
Worthwhile 'stripers efforts to raise money for the Leader Dogs for the Blind charity.
Coming off a very successful year ($70,000) in 2009 the Motor City Mavens Auto Art Panel Jam and Charity Auction presented by WRIF was at it again. The nearly 200 'stripers will have spent three days donating their time and much talent to painting a number of collectible items to raise money for a worthwhile charity--Leader Dogs for the Blind.
People can not only purchase the objects of art at the auctions throughout the weekend but can also interact with the artists to truly understand what it takes to create something so beautiful. Pinstriping is one of the oldest forms of automotive art dating back to the 19th century. Pinstripers applied their trade and talents to doing covered wagons and carriages. Some of the most iconic names in the hot rod world such as Von Dutch and Ed "Big Daddy" Roth brought this art form to mainstream public attention.
