Best Ford in a Ford
Ford Racing Performance Parts continues with their support of Best Ford in a Ford program at Detroit.
For the second year Ford Racing Performance Parts continues supporting the FRPP and Street Rodder Best Ford in a Ford program and kicks 2010 off at the Detroit Autorama. Selecting a Ford hot rod (any year) that features a contemporary Ford engine is the basic criteria.
This year John "Jessie" James, not that one, but a hot rod builder from Racine, Wisconsin brought out his Shadow Rods XL27 with a Deuce grille and three-piece hood, which made its debut at Cobo Hall. The highboy roadster is painted in a old time Competition Orange by Caledonia Automotive and features a 351-W Ford motor with a C-4 automatic behind it. Noteworthy suspension items include the torsion front and rear based on a drilled I-beam and Ford 9-inch mated to a '32 Ford frame. The interior was stitched by Dean with extensive fabrication by Jeff Ludwig. On the interior note the use of the "Fatman" accessory steering wheel; flips up and out of the way for us jumbo sized rodders!
"Jessie" has a hot rod shop called the Wood Road Garage and along with Jerry Killberg and Jim Garbo they build some mighty nifty street worthy hot rods. Congratulations to "Jessie" on his Shadow Rods XL27 highboy roadster taking home Best Ford in a Ford honors at the 2010 Detroit Autorama.
