There's nothing like being... There's nothing like being able to motor down the historic boardwalk on one of the scheduled early morning cruises while being greeted by legions of cheering fans. In the world of hot rodding there are countless outdoor events spread across the country, each with their own unique features to make your experience memorable. However once you arrive at a venue, the adrenalin rush from your drive to get there fades away as you find a place to park your ride and plan out the day. What if when you arrived you were greeted by the scent of high octane fuel and the sounds of high strung small-blocks and fire-breathing blown big-block's as they motored through the venue on their way to the main strip to visit countless other mini events? It might sound like a dream, but we're here to tell you that if you dig plenty of action, hate sitting in lawn chars, and want something fun to do throughout your stay, Cruisin' Ocean City is the place to be! Now in its 22nd year, the show has become known as a true driving event and has welcomed attendees from all over the country who roll into town to experience just what it's like to burn fuel all weekend long. The quaint little oceanfront community of Ocean City, Maryland, opens its doors to over 3,000 registered participants and lets them hit their 10-mile strip for plenty of fun and festivities. Full-fendered and dressed... Full-fendered and dressed to impress, James Wagner's '34 Ford had tasty scallops, DeSoto Hemi power, and plenty of plenty of neat details. Once you check in and get your credentials at the Convention Center, its time to head to "the inlet" which serves as the epicenter for the weekend. Located at the absolute end of the strip, it offers great surf and perfectly manicured beaches as well as a grand old amusement park, arcades, and plenty of food vendors to make you feel like a kid again. There was also an expanded vendor area with exhibitors including General Motors Performance Division, Speedway Motors, Meguiar's, Miller Welding, and Flowmaster to mention but a few. There are always surprise celebrities who stop in for a visit and this year you had the chance to meet Mike Lookinland who starred as Bobby Brady in TV's the Brady Bunch or Gator Queen Liz from Swamp People. Allan Burns' '30 Ford drop-top... Allan Burns' '30 Ford drop-top echoed perfect post-war style with a '53 Ford Flathead topped with an Edelbrock Slingshot intake, Winters rear, and deep maroon gloss. Want more, head out from the inlet and cruise down the main strip to another expansive event anchored at the Convention Center which features live entertainment and even more vendors. Express Auctioneers also offered an indoor collector car auction as well as a charily auction to benefit the Special Olympics. Hitting the road again to work your way up the strip, you could have stopped into a myriad of other mini events at such venues as Hooters, the Ice Cream Castle, Crab Alley, and Harpoon Hanna's to mention but a few. Once the evening rolls in, its time to tank up, grab a bite, and head back onto the strip for even more excitement . Cruising the main drag you felt like a celebrity with literally thousands of fans cheering you from sidewalks, hotel balconies, and even parking garages. At Ocean City you'll find everything from wicked hot rods, to tasty customs, wild muscle cars, and even stock resto's making the scene with the sounds of healthy V-8's echoing well into the early morning hours.
