Legendary customizer Gene Winfield is present at the 61st Detroit Autorama as well as seven other events for the express purpose of showing hot rodder what it takes to jump into chopping a top.
In the Basement you will find plenty of traditional rods but clearly the focus of attention for many is the top chop exercise by Winfield. He is lowering the lid on a '39 Chevy coupe belonging to Russ Springborn of Howell, Michigan. Winfield tells us it will take the weekend to do the work but as you can see here great strides were made on Friday.
