The first weekend in August for the past several decades the NSRA Nationals Plus has taken place in Louisville, Kentucky at the Kentucky Exposition Center. It’s the summer of 2014 and that can only mean one of the largest automotive participant events in the world is about to take place. This year marks the 45th Anniversary of this granddaddy of them all street rod events produced and hosted by the Nationals Street Rod Association (http://www.nsra-usa.com).
As is the norm for the past 17 years one can expect to see between 9,000 and 11,000 post and pre ’48 street rods of all different makes, models, and build styles. The event runs through Thursday, July 31st to Sunday, August 3rd. In those four days you will one of nearly 75,000 people who will come through the Exposition gates to take in the sights, sounds, and smells that the Nationals has to offer.
Beginning on Thursday there will be the always popular UPS Commercial Way followed by other event highlights such as the Classic Instruments Pros’ Pick held on Friday, Saturday will feature the Mopar Country and Vintage Air ’29 Below’ judging. Sunday is the always popular Circle of Winners made of up 40 outstanding rods of both early and late model year vintage.
Throughout the event you can always visit the Builder’s Showcase where 30 of rods will be featured from some of the top builders in the country. This is held in the Grand Lobby and South Wing lobbies A, B, and C.
If you want to see what’s the latest in aftermarket offerings for your latest or next project make sure to continue on into the exhibit building and take in the 375 exhibitors on hand with loads of information or product to be delivered. There is also the new product section which is open to the general public beginning on Friday and runs through Saturday. By the way, show are from 8 am to 5 pm on Thursday; 8 am to 6 pm on Friday; 7 am to 7 pm on Saturday and 8 am to 3 pm on Sunday.
If you like your rod parts “seasoned” then there is always the outdoor swap meet.
There are product seminars held by the leaders of the industry from Thursday through Sunday and couple that with some diversion in Women’s World.
