Bad AttitudeJack Lopresti's '33 Speedstar Coupe Has A Bad Attitude From the September, 2009 issue of Street Rodder By Brian Brennan

Having owned a dozen-plus hot rods, spanning the past 60 years, one gets to know what one likes or dislikes! Jack LoPresti of Big River, California, found himself reading an issue of STREET RODDER when he came across an ad for the Rats Glass SpeedStar coupe that rests on an Alloway's Hot Rod Hot Shop chassis. It was the "perfect combination," according to Jack, and the rest is history. The car is the quintessential SpeedStar coupe with just the right recipe of wheels and tires, lots of modern horsepower, and plenty of attitude via the correct stance (3- to 5-degree rake). The hot rod, with its heritage firmly planted in its pre-'48 roots, "leans" heavily on modern technology with full independent suspension by means of a Heidt's IFS and a Winter's rear independent quick-change. You will find a pair of All American coilover shocks in front and duals in back along with Wilwood outboard disc brakes in front and inboards in back, as well as the four Intro wheels wrapped with BFGoodrich g-Force rubber: The Intro's measure 7x17 in front and 10x20 in back while the g-Force tires measure 215/45ZR-17 and 295/40ZR-20.
