1956 Chrysler 300 - Majestic
|
The firepower for this Chrysler comes from the motor the car was born with: a '56 354 Hemi. Bored .030 over by Dougan's Engine Rebuilding for a final displacement of 359 inches, Norco, California's Brad Brody assembled the V-8 by using forged stock rods, J&E forged pistons (set up with a 9.5:1 compression ratio), a stock crank, and a Clay Smith camshaft. The Hemi cast-iron heads use double springs for each stainless valve and are fed by a pair of Carter carbs. Exhaust runs through Hedman headers and stainless tubing before reaching the twin MagnaFlow mufflers. A PerTronix distributor supplies the spark to a set of Taylor wires, and a Mattson's radiator helps keep the Hemi running cool as a cucumber. The V-8 is backed to a TH400 trans, assembled by the Toy Shop in Pomona, CA. View Related Article
