During the course of the 2008 event season street rodders have been primping, polishing and profiling all in the hopes of garnering a STREET RODDER/Turtle Wax Top-100 pick. Well, the season has wound down, the picks have been awarded, and the voting completed - now's the time to introduce the winner that you, our readers, have chosen as the Street Rodder/Turtle Wax Online Street Rod of The Year!
Drum roll please . . . The 2008 Online Street Rod of The Year honor goes to Ed Klein and his Kansas-based 1936 Chevrolet Master Deluxe Sport coupe. All kidding aside, we at Street Rodder and Turtle Wax couldn't agree more with you our readers and customers - Ed's coupe is an awesome street rod!
Along with the bragging rights, Ed will also be awarded a Street Rodder/ Turtle Wax Online Street Rod of The Year letterman's jacket, a plaque commemorating his win, and last but not least a brand spankin' new Ford Racing Performance Boss 302 crate engine!
As you might imagine Mr. Klein was flabbergasted upon being notified of his win. As a matter of fact he at first thought it might have been his friends pulling his leg - but, upon verifying the win with our Head Honcho (Editorial Director Brian Brennan) the news really hit home. When asked a few days after his win what plans he may have for his shiny new Boss 302 Ed said that he's contemplating an early Ford pickup or possibly a '64 to '66 Mustang as the Boss motor's new home. Of course we're rooting for the early pickup but hey, Ed won fair and square so I guess we gotta leave it up to him, right?
Street Rodder and Turtle Wax want to congratulate all of 2008's winners and want to invite those of you that have yet to be recognized to keep on polishin' and profilin' cuz the '09 season is about to get under way and we'll again be out in force looking for the 2009 Street Rodder Turtle Wax Top-100!
