Alex's "South of the border" tuck-n-roll upholstery job was done in one day by a team of talented Tijuana trimmers. The original gauges were restored and placed behind a '39 Ford banjo steering wheel that was restored and bolted to the original column.

The '49 Ford Flatty received a 4 1/8-inch stroked Mercury crank and 3 5/16-inch pistons, good for a total displacement of 286-inches. It breathes through a pair of Stromberg 97 carbs with Scott tops mounted atop a Thickstun high rise manifold.

Kevan's hot rod is also Flathead-powered, although not by the common Ford variety; his is powered by a 346ci Flathead Cadillac. Kevan fabricated a set of headers and topped the Cad with a pair of Aero-type Stromberg carbs mounted on an Edmunds dual manifold and a set of Cyclone aluminum heads. A dual point Mallory distributor fires the cylinders via Packard plug wires.

Burgundy leather covers most of the stock confines of the roadster's cockpit, while a '39 Banjo wheel and a set of Stewart-Warner gauges finishes it off.
