1957 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 Hardtop V 8
|
It seems the Olds J-2 engines have been popping up a lot lately in various hot rods, but it's right at home in the engine bay of the Olds 88. The Rocket 88 V-8 debuted in 1949, but with 303 cubes and a measly 135 horsepower rating. By 1957, the displacement had been bumped to 371 and, with the J-2's triple-two carb setup, delivered 300-plus horses. Finch took his a step further by having the motor bored .060 over to almost 400 inches, which is more than enough to push the big Olds down the street. B&M Transmission supplied the 700-R4 trans, which was modified with a shift kit. View Related Article
