1950 Sedan Delivery/Phaeton
Chevy hadn't made phaetons for years, but that doesn't mean we can't see what one looks like if you take a sedan delivery and hack the top off. Sometimes the earlier body styles don't translate well to later cars, but I think this looks just right. The difficult aspects of this are fabbing the top bows--maybe do them in conduit or use a combination of steamed bows and metal brackets for a slicker application, and making the side windows work--though a true phaeton doesn't have side windows. Low trim breaks up the sides nicely, and we've worked a little brake duct into the lower rear fenders--helping to give a reason for those bulging forms.
1950 Chevy Fleetline Bel Air
This is one of those ideas that will float by most that aren't familiar with early 1950s Chevys--but who cares--those that know will dig it. Chevy made Fleetlines--"fastbacks" or "aerobacks" to some. And Chevy made hardtop Bel Airs--but they didn't make a Bel Air Fleetline. You'll be combining a Fleetline roof with hardtop doors and/or components. The one-piece Oldsmobile windshield it a must, and we've stolen 1953-54 Bel Air side trim and worked it into the sides. The stainless at the beltline is stock Fleetline. The front bumper has been lowered to just below the lower grille trim to visually lower the whole car. You could run stock 15-inch Skylark wire wheels, or see if somebody will lace some 18-inchers--and the old Tahitian Maroon paint would look sexy.
Chevs of the 40's offers sunvisors and traffic light viewers for `49-52 Chevy exteriors plus Fulton style and ball cap style exterior sunvisors that fit `49-52 Chevy cars (some for earlier). All come with stainless trim and include mounting hardware.
