Dan turned to his father to give the sedan's cabin similar style. An electrician by trade, Harry has done upholstery work on the side for decades-and could have easily turned pro judging by the rolls and pleats here. The copper vinyl has a carbon-fiber pattern that looks like it was lifted from one of those far-out '50s factory interiors; it contrasts nicely with the smooth, bone-colored synthetic leather. A restored banjo wheel, LimeWorks column, Beede gauges, and Lokar shifter contribute to the classic style-as does the tasteful pinstriping on the dash.
Now a father of two, Dan appreciates the sedan not only for its distinctive lines and comfortable road manners, but also for its spacious back seat. "It's user-friendly," he says. "We throw car seats in the back and go to local shows." Indeed, the '37 gets driven wherever it goes, and typically picks up awards, too. Not bad for a basic, homebuilt street rod with fancy paint.

A cream-painted and pinstriped firewall lends a period appearance to the 302ci Ford mill, which was donated from Dan's mother's rusted-out '83 T-bird. The engine wears body-color paint and plenty of polished aluminum and chrome. Dig the vintage Cal Custom air cleaner and finned valve covers.

The Sundance Gold paint is an Acura hue that truly glows in certain light. Dan laid out and sprayed the flames himself, giving them a shape and style straight out of the '50s. Chrome wheels, spider caps, and exhaust cutouts lend more period flavor, while the front bumper is tucked closer to the body for a tidier appearance.
