1949 Oldsmobile 88 455 Engine
|
This Rocket gets its go from a 455 that has been bored 0.060 by McBride Racing in Lake Elsinore, CA. McBride assembled the engine with a W30 crank, a Clay Smith camshaft, forged pistons, polished rods, and set the heads (built by George Striegel) up with a 9.5:1 compression ratio. The valve covers are off a Pro Stock racer and a single Edelbrock 750 carb feeds the beast. The air cleaner was custom-made by Butch Lynch, and the motor’s wiring uses MSD ignition and Taylor wires.
