Chopping And Sectioning On Your TvIn this one-hour, 40-minute video/DVD, Ron Covell and Joe McGlynn collaborate on a project inspired by the Rod & Custom Dream Truck. You'll see top chopping, sectioning, and hood pie cutting shown in unusually clear detail, with an ongoing commentary that brings out many of the fine points of the project. While this is big-time metalworking, Ron and Joe show how it can be done with basic tools in the home shop.

Zipper Goes To The Salt
All of us are familiar with Zipper Motors and the lakes-modifieds that are currently coming out of their shop one right after another. But are you aware that Ol' Darrell Zipp has been a "closet Bonneville racer" all of his life?
Well, after 2 1/2 years under construction, the race car was finally finished and on the Salt. This past summers, salt was a bit rough, but the car did make a pass and then it was put away for next year. (That's the way it is at Bonneville-there are no guarantees that conditions will be ideal from one year to another.)
The good news is that the car worked perfectly and had more "zip" than Zipp dreamed possible from only 440 cc (approximately 120 hp)! The tech crew was very complementary and just about everyone present had to take the time to grab a photo.
Goodguys Awards Dearborn Deuce Convertible
Timotheia Haag, a retired high school librarian from Brookfield, Missouri, won the Hot Rods & Horsepower Dearborn Deuce Convertible Grand Prize Giveaway car while attending the Goodguys 19th Texaco/Havoline West Coast Nationals held at the Fairgrounds in Pleasanton.
She and her husband, Gary-a longtime car guy and hot rod builder-attended their first Goodguys event last fall in Kansas City where her name was drawn as a qualifier for the Dearborn Deuce. "I've never won anything in my life," she said emphatically after the thrill of winning a road-ready convertible hot rod had set in. "I've already named it Yellow Babe!"
The steel-bodied convertible features Goodguys yellow paint, a 400hp Chevy 350 built by Smeding Performance, a black Ultra leather interior by Hot Rods & Horsepower, 17-inch and 15-inch Wheel Vintique kidney bean aluminum wheels, BFGoodrich Tires, and an entire laundry list of top-quality components.
The Haags are longtime rodding enthusiasts and participate in local car activities in and around their hometown of Brookfield. Timotheia regularly drives her 1966 Plymouth convertible and the couple also owns a 1941 Chevy, two Javelins, and are currently building a 1933 Ford three-window.
