Sound AdviceFor those who have yet to experience the American Hot Rod Foundation Web site, here's yet another reason to take the time to check it out. The AHRF site was developed to preserve and promote hot rod history by recording the histories of hot rod pioneers on network-quality videotape.
While the early days of American hot rodding have been well documented in our family of publications, there have been few attempts to capture the pioneers' stories "on film." So with this in mind, the foundation set out to film the true hot rod pioneers from the '30s, '40s, and early '50s.
Recently the AHRF added a cool new feature to the Web site called Ask The Experts. It is a feature whereby anyone can ask a hot rod pioneer a question and get a recorded answer back. Basically, they call up the pioneer, ask the questions, and record the answers. They then post the answers on the Web site (they now have a list of over 160 pioneers who can participate and plan on posting 12 different pioneers a month in order to keep it fresh). It's not only a great way for hot rodders from around the world to interact with their hot rod heroes, but a great source for technical and historical information, as well. Ppg Awards To Be Selected At All '06 Nsra EventsParticipating street rods at the 13 NSRA events this year will be eligible to be selected for one of the prestigious PPG Outstanding Use of Color Awards.
Representatives of PPG Industries will circulate throughout the grounds at each event, and will make their selections from all of the registered street rods in attendance. At each of the 12 NSRA National events, three vehicles will be selected and honored, and at the 37th NSRA Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky, five vehicles will be selected. The PPG Outstanding Use of Color recipients will be included in the awards program at the conclusion of the event with the owners receiving their award plaque at that time.
It is always an honor to be selected for one of the PPG Outstanding Use of Color awards, and NSRA is pleased that PPG Industries will continue the program for the 2006 season. Also returning will be the PPG Kids' Coloring Contest, giving all of the younger attendees the chance to win a nice prize courtesy of PPG. More important to the youngsters than the prizes is the chance to express their artistic talents in designing paint schemes for specialty vehicles.
The PPG booth is always a great place for the entire family to visit. From showing off their latest automotive finish products to the fun of viewing the creativity of the kids, this is a place to visit while attending an NSRA event.
For more information on NSRA events, contact NSRA, 4030 Park Ave., Dept. SRM, Memphis, TN 38111; call (901) 452-4030; or visit www.nsra-usa.com.
