The Mooneyes Xmas Show was held back in early December at Irwindale Speedway in California and was by far Moon's largest party yet. Attendance was in the 4,000 range with 800-plus show cars; in fact, the gates were closed by midday, as the lots were full. A couple hours later, track officials opened the circle track for additional parking, allowing the gates to be re-opened. It's expected that the party attendance will continue to grow each year, but the numbers exceeded everyone's expectations by a long shot this year. In fact, Irwindale's staff said it was one of the largest events to ever take place there.
Moon's Christmas show has been a wild success from its inception and the company has had to move the show to different locations periodically to accommodate the growing attendance each year. The gathering started out at the shop back in the Rat Fink Reunion days; then it moved to a local Elks Lodge, and then to the Sheriff's Academy, and finally Irwindale Speedway-and a record-breaking attendance figure has accompanied every new location.
Mooneyes' staff thanked some very generous people who contributed their talents to make this show possible. Those people include Von Franco, for being Mooneyes' honorary auctioneer and for his donation of a painting for the auction. Thanks also went to Doug Door, for his art donation and for his help with the pinup contest award. Mooneyes also thanked artists who participated and supported the event, including Jimmy C, Coop, Robert Williams, Trophy Queen, Keith Weesner, Scratch, Ron Peters, Bob McCoy, Dennis McPhail, Jack Rudy, Pizz, Dave Burke, Jerald Tidwell, Chick, and others.

OOPS!In the March issue of STREET RODDER on page 100 ("Nip/Tuck," by Chris Shelton), there was a bit of misinformation that slipped by without being noticed. In no way would we try to take away from what Chip Foose has achieved in his career, but he's actually not the only one, or even the first one, to win both the America's Most Beautiful Roadster and the Ridler titles with the same car, as it was incorrectly stated in the article. It happened first in 1997 with a car built for George Poteet by Don Pilkenton of Don's Hot Rods in Germantown, Ohio. That car, a '37 Ford roadster, won the Ridler in '96 and the AMBR in '97. The second occurrence involved a car called the Revolver owned by Dave Emery. Chip's car is the third to achieve this amazing feat. We apologize for the oversight.
