Thump On This
It turns our one of the most frequent questions fielded by the COMP Cams tech line is, "What camshaft will give my car that mean-sounding idle?"
The Thumpr Camshafts are a series of retrofit hydraulic roller camshafts designed for use in 1955-98 262-400ci small-block Chevrolet engines that were originally equipped with flat-tappet camshafts. The reason the new Thumpr Camshafts have such an aggressive exhaust note is that the lobe profiles and grind characteristics chosen by the COMP Cams engineers produce a combination of early exhaust valve opening, long exhaust duration, and a generous amount of intake and exhaust overlap to maximize the rough-idling characteristics of the cams without negatively impacting the power output or streetability of the engine.
Thumpr Camshafts are available in three different grind profiles, each one of which will produce a rough, racy exhaust note and impressive amounts of horsepower and torque at a different rpm range. The cutting-edge hydraulic roller design means the camshaft will deliver a substantial power increase over an identical hydraulic flat-tappet grind without sacrificing reliability or ease of maintenance.

Retro Tech
Converting an EFI vehicle to carburetors used to be a complex task, requiring the re-plumbing of nearly the entire fuel system. Professional Products has helped solve that problem with its new three-port and five-port adjustable fuel pressure regulators.
These new Powerflow regulators use the same proven design as Professional Products' existing regulators, featuring easy adjustability, polished stainless brackets and hardware, and integrated pressure gauge ports. The new integrated return line ports are what make them special; the ports allow for the use of the stock in-tank fuel pump. Simply connect your stock fuel feed line to any of the 3/8-inch NPT inlet/outlet ports, connect your stock return line to the 3/8-inch NPT return port, plumb to your carburetor, and you are ready to go. This Professional Products bypass regulator provides between 4.5 and 9 psi to the carb while returning unused fuel to the tank to prevent pump damage. This recirculation also keeps fuel temps low to help prevent vapor lock. The three-port regulator retails for around $80, while the five-port for dual-carb setups is about $115.
