Chip Off The Old BlockThe Hemi/Wedge 426/440 race block is now available from aftermarket replacement parts manufacturer World Products. The blocks are available in aluminum or compacted graphite and carry Mopar casting numbers. They accommodate all OEM Chrysler components. World's engineering team has taken the 426 Hemi, which made its debut in 1964, into the 21st century through use of 3D CAD/CAM technology. The refined Hemi/Wedge block has superior casting quality and exceptional consistency. It also incorporates a number of features that are a result of collaboration with leading Hemi racers and engine builders, including Ray Barton. Available in 4.250- and 4.500-inch bore sizes, the block can accommodate a 4.750-inch stroke crank if an external oil pickup line is employed. The block comes with standard or .250-inch raised-cam tunnels, which can be bored to 60 mm. Lifter bores can be spread up to .100-inch and machined at any angle from 45 to 51 degrees. Another unique feature added by World is a dual-pattern bellhousing, which can accept both Chrysler and GM transmissions. The block features cross-bolted main caps, including the front main. Make Any Engine Look 'Olds' Technostalgia just released an all-new, all-steel, retro air cleaner based on the style and dimensions of the mid-'50s Oldsmobile and Cadillac air cleaners.
Measuring 18 1/4 inches wide, the Technostalgia air cleaner is not a scaled-down version of the classic design. This new air cleaner has the same external dimensions as the original Oldsmobile oil-bath part. However, the Technostalgia version uses an off-the-shelf 14-inch-diameter by 4-inch-tall paper filter element. This air cleaner top is stamped from heavy gauge steel, fully spot welded together, and then powdercoated in a tough semigloss finish. The electroplated air cleaner base is also stamped steel and is designed to fit most carburetors and throttle bodies. The air cleaner is notched at the rear to provide clearance for the large-diameter GM HEI distributors.
The Technostalgia air cleaner assembly ships as a complete kit, including the Oldsmobile/Cadillac look-alike steel air cleaner top, 14x4-inch filter element, steel air cleaner base, carburetor stud, reproduction A/C decal, and chrome-plated, rocket-shaped wing nut.
