For anyone who follows finely crafted hot rods, Dan Webb's name should already be familiar. From hitting the national map in 1990 with his Ridler-winning coupe to just a couple of years ago completing The Wedge roadster for his daughter, Ashley, Dan's stature in the car building arena is well justified.
Interested in a whole new branch of hot rods, Webb hooked up with renowned automotive illustrator Thom Taylor and metal craftsman Craig Naff to build a car that owes its design to the famous Golden Submarine; the racer built by Harry Miller and driven by Barney Oldfield in 1917.
Though inspired by the Sub, this ride is all new with a 300-horse Zetec Ford four cylinder and a Webb-built steel skeleton filled with lightening holes wrapped with 3003 .060 aluminum shaped by Naff. We can report the front end of the body and one side is done, with the rest to be finished in time to debut the car at the 2008 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
