Winner Scott Whitaker of Dynamat just earned him $20,000.00 cash at the 45th Darryl Starbird's National Rod & Custom Car Show in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His '50 Mercury called the Merrodder was designed by Larry Erickson and built by Larry Kramer. The $20,000.00 cash award "Go for the Gold" was chosen from a field of nine unbelievable vehicles from throughout the USA. (Richard Graese of Gilbert AZ with a '41 Ford Coupe, Bruce Harvey from Elizabeth, PA with a 1930 Ford Coupe, Gary Coe from Portland, OR with a 1957 Ford Pickup, Gordon Peters from Sunfish Lake, MN with a 1956 Chevy, Dean Arnold from Tacoma, WA with a 1961 T-bird, Erik & Paul Hansen from Discovery Bay, CA with a 1952 Buick built by Tim Strange, Terry Cook from Long Valley, NJ with a 1939 Lincoln, and John Mai from So, Houston, TX with a 1933 Willys). These vehicles were all awarded a "Fine Nine Trophy" for being a part of this prestigious competition.
Starbird's Tulsa show is in its 45th annual presentation. The "Go for the Gold" $20,000.00 cash is in its 6th annual presentation. Tulsa is the largest indoor car show in the country having over 1000 vehicles in competition.
