Still going strong after 22 years, the "crown jewel" of all Goodguys events, the West Coast Nationals is set for a full weekend of hot rodding fun and tradition August 21, 22, 23 at the Fairgrounds in Pleasanton. The event features over 3,000 of the world's finest rods, customs, and classics through 1957 vintage, the crowning of America's Most Beautiful Street Rod, indoor & outdoor vendor exhibits featuring over 250 booths, live entertainment, hot rod seminars, night time cruising, model car show, miniature engine show, arts & crafts and much more! It all gets started Monday, August 17th with Hot Rod Week; a guided set of daily hot rod tours and cruises to various rod shops, car collections and motorsports facilities in and around Northern California.
Highlighting this year's 23rd West Coast Nationals is the Brizio Street Rod Reunion. For the first time in history, builder Roy Brizio will attempt to round up the hot rods and customs he's built over the past 32 years and display them together as a group at the West Coast Nationals. Brizio estimates he will have over 100 cars for the reunion. Roy and his entire Brizio Street Rods team will be on hand Saturday August 22nd for a meet and greet, autograph signings and more fun. Fans will also have an opportunity to purchase the brand new coffee table book Roy Brizio Street Rods put together by hot rod photojournalist Bo Bertilsson.
Tradition is a huge part of the West Coast Nationals particularly when it comes to awards and other annual traditions. The Stroker McGurk award is presented in honor of Tom Medley while the Billy B Memorial Award, Jim Ewing Memorial award and Bruce Olsen Memorial award are presented in memoriam of some of rodding most influential pioneers and rodders. In all, over 100 awards will be presented. It's also only in Pleasanton where you will you see the Good Wood special woodies-only parking area, the Deuce Doin's area featuring all '32 Fords and other cool themed parking areas.
