75th Anniversary '34 Hot Rod Pedal Car Give-Away
The iconic '34 hot rod celebrates its 75th Anniversary in 2009. Earlier this year Classic Automobilia introduced their limited-edition pedal car to commemorate this milestone in rodding. Street Rodder Magazine and Classic Automobilia are teaming up at the 40th NSRA Street Rod Nationals to give away two of these sidewalk street rods. Featuring 75th Anniversary graphics by artist Guy Shively, a chrome grill and a limited production run of 300 red and 300 black, these are great for the grandkids or perfect on a shelf as a collectors item.
Stop by the Street Rodder Magazine booth at the 40th NSRA Street Rod Nationals in Louisville this August. Register to win one of the Classic Automobilia '34 Hot Rod Pedal Cars. The drawing will be held at noon on Sunday August 9 in the Street Rodder Magazine booth for one red and one black car. You do not need to be present at the drawing to win. The Willy's Garage Tour:
From The 40th Street Rod Nationals to the Salt Flats
This August a milestone will be reached in Louisville, Kentucky. Over 10,000 street rods will gather at the Kentucky State Fairgrounds and Expo Center to take part in the 40th Annual NSRA Street Rod Nationals, the largest participant street rod event in the world. The '09 edition of the Nationals also marks the end of one era and the beginning of an exciting new chapter in our hobby. With the recent announcement that the vehicle years will be extended at all the NSRA events in 2010, the 2009 Street Rod Nationals will be the last time that the annual event will be limited to 1948 and earlier body styles. As the Street Rod Nationals are wrapping up in Louisville, the 61st Bonneville Speed Weeks is just beginning about 1,700 miles to the west of Kentucky. On Sunday afternoon August 9 in Louisville almost 50 vehicles will pull out of the Nationals and begin the trip to Wendover, Utah, as the AMSOIL/Street Rodder Willy's Garage Road Tour travels from the Nationals to Speed Week.
We will spend Sunday evening in St Charles, Missouri, just west of St Louis. Our first day's journey will end in Lincoln, Nebraska, the home of Speedway Motors. Joyce and Bill Smith have welcomed many Road Tours over the years and a visit at the Smith Collection of American Speed is a high point of any tour. The museum houses without a doubt the most incredible collection of vintage hot rod and racing equipment, accessories, memorabilia, and vehicles on the face of the planet.
Tuesday we will make the drive across the long flat plains of Nebraska. Our destination for the evening is the Wild West town of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Cheyenne is the point where the rolling grazing land of the Midwest ends and the climb into the Rockies begins. After resting ourselves and our horses in Cheyenne Tuesday evening, Wednesday will begin with spectacular scenery as we cross Wyoming and really experience the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. After crossing into Utah we will descend down into the Salt Lake City area. The party on Wednesday night is at Willy's Garage in West Valley, Utah. Willy's Garage is not a garage at all but a brand new line of premium car care products. The Willy at Willy's Garage is owner Bill Williams, who has spent 35 years in the street rod industry and saw the need for a high-end line of car care products. Willy's Garage is also the home of the North American distribution center of Iwata spray guns and airbrushes. On display is art work from 16 of the greatest airbrush artists in the world. It will be a great party at Willy's Garage headquarters Wednesday evening in West Valley, Utah, and everyone in the area is invited to join us.
