Gather up the family and head out to Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa, on Saturday, Sept. 17, for the 5th Annual Show 'N Shine Hot Rod event. Some of the largest car collectors in the state will have their finest automobiles on display during the show.
Exhibitors can pre-register their car for $10 on Iowa Speedway's website (www.iowaspeedway.com) or sign-up at the show for $15. Gates open at 9 a.m. and admission and parking are free. There will be food vendors and activities for the kids until 3 p.m.
Attendees who make a $20 donation to the Iowa Speedway Foundation, benefiting various non-profit organizations across the state, are invited to take their own vehicles for a spin around the track. An official Iowa Speedway pace car will escort drivers on a three-lap tour around the 7/8 mile track - designed by NASCAR racing legend and Iowa Speedway co-owner Rusty Wallace - between 3-5 p.m.
Everyone is invited to stick around for the free Great American Stockcar Series (GASS) race beginning at 5 p.m.
"It's been an exciting year at Iowa Speedway - and it's not over yet!" says Iowa Speedway President Jerry Jauron. "Come out to the Show 'N Shine event to see some of the most impressive car collections in Iowa and help us celebrate the most successful season in the track's history."
The Show 'N Shine event coincides with Iowa Speedway's end of the season celebration and pace car giveaway at Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Altoona, Iowa, from 4-8:15 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17. Season ticket holders are automatically entered and must be present to win the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS red convertible. Photos of the car's proud new owner will be posted on Iowa Speedway's Facebook page and www.iowaspeedway.com.
