The "Fadeaway Ford"
Comin' at cha'...the "Fadeaway Ford" with its cut-down '50 Chrysler grille bars, '40 Ford headlights, and '49 Plymouth ribbed bumpers, as restored by Bob Trousil of Bob's Restoration in Downey, CA, looks just as originally built by Art Lehner in the '50s. The purple color is close to the original's, but can't compete with that old-fashioned "Nitro" Kandy Purple lacquer shot by Bud Lehner himself as a teenager. One change that's not readily apparent is that the front fenders are no longer leaded to the cowl, as they had to be separated for the once-wrecked body to be straightened out.
