Fred Steele's Channeled Roadster
The 286-cid flathead started life as a race motor for Fred's late cousin Russell. It features all the period tricks: oversized valves, a port and relief job, Johnson adjustable lifters, a full race Harman & Collins cam, and an H & C dual point, dual coil distributor. Heads are Edelbrock; the piece de resistance is a four-carb Sharp intake with four 97s. Fred says he wanted to one-up the guys with three-carb manifolds.
