First up was a Ford Flathead replaced by a 265ci small-block Chevy that shortly gave way to a "punched" 283 sizing in at 301 inches complete with a triple set of Stromberg 97 carbs resting on an Edelbrock intake. (According to a 1953 article the car started out with four Stromberg 81 carbs on the Flathead.) View Related Article
