Borgeson's Future Expands
Borgeson has acquired Vintage Chassis Works. Many of you are already aware of the famous Vintage Chassis Works tubular straight-axle with forged ends. According to VCW, they use the forged ends "because they are much stronger than cast." VCW offers them in three widths-46-, 47-, and 48 1/2-inch-with custom lengths available. They are designed as direct installs for '28-34 Ford and can be easily adapted to the '28-35 Chevy, the '28-35 Plymouth, Dodge, and Chrysler. All axles come with a 4-inch drop and come in plain steel or chromed, and are offered in two styles: smooth for parallel and coilover mounting, and standard for the transverse spring.
Once Borgeson has the entire VCW line up and running at its new 50,000-square-foot home it will share with Borgeson and Mullins, more products will be offered, as well as features and options to you, their customer. The VCW line will also be featured in their 2006 catalog along with new products from Borgeson and Mullins.

Clevite Supplier For Aera E85 Power Shootout
The Automotive Engine Rebuilder's Association (AERA) has selected Clevite Engine Parts to be the official supplier of engine parts for its ethanol-fueled engine-building competition. Dubbed the E85 Power Shootout, this competition will be held in conjunction with AERA's RPM (Racing, Performance engines, Machinery) Show to be held in Indianapolis August 30-September 1. Clevite Engine Parts will supply Clevite engine bearings, Perfect Circle piston rings, and Victor Reinz gaskets to all competitors.
This engine-building competition is actually a demonstration project to show the viability of ethanol-based fuels in automotive engine applications. E85 refers to a blend of 85-percent ethanol and 15-percent gasoline. Six teams will build engines based on existing domestic or import platforms. These engines will be dyno-tested during the AERA RPM Show, where horsepower, torque, and fuel consumption will be measured. These parameters will be weighted against engine displacement, and a winner will be determined based on these factors.
The E85 Power Shootout will not only demonstrate the viability of ethanol-based fuels, but will also show that their replacement engine bearings, piston rings, and gaskets perform well in a variety of engine configurations, and with a variety of fuels and combustion environments.
