CONNECTICUT

Antique, rare or special interest motor vehicle: a motor vehicle twenty-five years old or older which is being preserved because of historic interest and which is not altered or modified from the original manufacturer's specifications.

Modified antique motor vehicle: a motor vehicle twenty-five years old or older which has been modified for safe road use, including but not limited to, modifications to the drive train, suspension, braking system and safety or comfort apparatus;

Connecticut Tire Efficiency: SAN-opposed legislation that would require the development of a statewide program to mandate that replacement tires for passenger cars and light trucks be as energy efficient as tires sold as original equipment was not approved by the Connecticut Legislature. While the bill contained a SAN-drafted exemption for some hobbyist tires, including limited-production and off-road tires, SAN recommended that the bill be rejected since the replacement tire efficiency program conflicts with federal law by regulating fuel economy, competes with Federal consumer information requirements and essentially sets a 50-state standard.
