This year's Road Tour car is a fiberglass Wescott's Auto Restyling 1933 Ford full-fendered roadster powered by a Ford Racing Performance Parts EFI 5L powerplant coupled to an overdrive tranny from TCI Automotive. A Pete & Jake's Hot Rod Parts chassis rolls on a set of Wheel Vintiques Inc. Cruiser wheels.
Twenty-four hours after the cars completion Jerry Dixey headed out of the Street Rodder Tech Center to the first National Street Rod Association event of the season at the Southwest Nationals in Oklahoma City.
The trip across I-10 to I-25 went smooth. It was then north on I-25 to I-40 and east to Oklahoma City.
The weekend was absolutely perfect with temperatures in the 70's all weekend. The official car count as of 2 p.m. Saturday was 1,924 rods and a lot of happy spectators. The Road Tour roadster got rave reviews from everyone who stopped by the Street Rodder booth.
Sunday afternoon after the awards it was time to head back west. Dixey has one weekend at home in Ohio then back to California for the NSRA Western Nationals in Bakersfield. After that he heads immediately East to the Nationals South in Knoxville, Tennessee.
