After a week off it was back to work for Jerry Dixey and the PPG STREET RODDER Road Tour 2003. In the three days preceding the West Coast Nationals, filming continued on the "How to Build a Street Rod and Enjoy It" DVD. This STREET RODDER production will be available this summer. The cars will be the stars of this DVD and the 1997 McMullen roadster clone and the M-2000 roadster were brought out to be filmed with this year's road tour roadster.
The quick trip north to Bakersfield was made under clear blue skies and the weather remained great the entire weekend at the West Coast Nationals. The total number of registered vehicles for this year's event totaled 1,773.
After Sunday's awards, road tour pilot Jerry Dixey headed east immediately to get to Knoxville, Tennessee in time for next weekends NSRA Nats South. Watch for complete coverage of both events in the October issue of STREET RODDER on sale August 26th.
 The Kern County Fairgrounds was the site of the 27th NSRA West Coast Nationals the weather was perfect. |  On Saturday afternoon the grounds were covered with street rods and spectators. The city of Bakersfield is very supportive of this event every year. |  The West Coast Nationals is famous for the nightly cruising. Saturday evening the rods were bumper to bumper around the fairgrounds well into the night. |
