There is no rest on the 2003 PPG Street Rodder Magazine Road Tour for driver Jerry Dixey and the 1933 Ford Roadster. After the long swing out west to the NSRA Rocky Mountain Nationals he stopped at the PPG headquarters in Strongsville, Ohio. He then headed to Wisconsin to attend the PGA Greater Milwaukee Open golf tournament with a stopover visit at Heidt's Hot Rod Shop in Wauconda, Illinois. Gary Heidt gave his Super Ride suspension a quick once over and then took the roadster for a quick trip around town. It was then off to Milwaukee.
This marks the first time that any of the Road Tour cars have attended an event other than a traditional rod run. The idea was to bring the street rodding hobby to other folks who may have an interest in enjoying our passion. The new Road Tour 2003 DVD was debuted at the event and over 1,500 copies were distributed to interested attendees making the effort a tremendous success.
Jerry and the Primedia Marketing Manager Michael Simpson spoke with thousands of folks who were interested in the Road Tour roadster and wanted to learn more about the fun of street rodding. The weekend was capped off by car-guy and drag racing PGA professional golfer Kenny Perry winning the tournament.
The 600-mile trip home took Jerry and the roadster through downtown Chicago and then on to his home in Youngstown, Ohio. After a week at home the Road Tour will pay a visit to Stainless Steel Brakes Corporation in Buffalo, New York. Then it will be on to Louisville, Kentucky for the huge Street Rod Nationals.
