Just 12 days after the close of the Northeast Nationals in Burlington, Vermont, the Golden State Nationals open in Sacramento, California, 3,500 miles away. The PPG/STREET RODDER Road Tour goes where the NSRA goes, so pilot Jerry Dixey headed toward the Left Coast...in a hurry.
The three and a half day trip from home in Ohio included overnight stops in Springfield, Missouri, Amarillo, Texas, and Laughlin, Nevada. After a brief layover in Southern California it was north to Sacramento, the home of the 2nd annual Golden State Nationals. It was a weekend of beautiful weather and beautiful street rods in Northern California. The Cal-Expo grounds were covered with the best of the West in the street rod world. The Road Tour ramblings are not done yet. At the close of the Golden State event it was time to head directly to Tampa, Florida, 2,800 miles away, for the start of the Southeast Nationals. This leg of the tour is the most grueling of the season. It is called the Iron Man Run with good reason. Stay tuned to www.streetrodderweb.com for up-to-the-minute coverage.
