The 2011 AMSOIL/STREET RODDER Road Tour is nearing kick-off in Springfield, Missouri. The '55 Chevy, just finished by Woody's Hot Rodz is gassed up and eager to go. Road Tour leader Jerry Dixey is still on the telephone, adding more sights and stops to all 8 Road Tour legs and taking registrations from participants. We've added Jerry's updates to the Tour descriptions below and will continue to do so every month.

Fleetwood Country Cruize-In Tour
May 27-June 5
NSRA Mid-America Nationals, Springfield, MO, to Fleetwood Country Cruize-In, London, Ontario, Canada
Starting in Springfield, Missouri, on Memorial Day weekend, the Fleetwood Country Cruize-In Tour heads to London, Ontario, Canada. The Fleetwood Country Cruize-In is a two-day charity event that will feature the Beach Boys on Friday night, five members of the Happy Days cast, and more than 3,000 special interest vehicles. Stops during the week will be St. Louis, Indianapolis, Dearborn, Michigan. and on to Canada. Update: This Tour will include visits to some of the finest automotive museums on the planet. Included are stops at the Indianapolis Speedway Museum; the Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Museum; and the fantastic Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn.
Vintage Air Tour
Vintage Air, San Antonio, TX, to LA Roadsters Show, Pomona, CA
Jack Chisenhall, Rick Love, and the Vintage Air gang are leading us back to the promised land as we head to the famous LA Roadsters Show held Father's Day weekend in Pomona, California. The Vintage Air Tour is always the largest of the summer and Rick always plans plenty of fun stops along the way. Update: Before leaving Texas, we will stop at MSD Products in El Paso. The folks at MSD have a great lunch stop planned for us and are anxious to show us their manufacturing facility.
Golden Shine Tour
California Car Covers, Chatsworth, CA, to NSRA Rocky Mountain Nationals,Pueblo, CO
Immediately following the LA Roadsters Show Father's Day event, we will head back east. From the Golden Shine/California Car Covers headquarters in Chatsworth, California, we will head to Las Vegas for an overnight stop, then continue across Nevada, Utah, and Colorado to the NSRA Rocky Mountain Nationals in Pueblo. Update: After our evening in Las Vegas, we will get a guided tour of the entire Las Vegas Speedway facility. We will also be treated to an up close look at Shelby American, including the production facilities and the Shelby museum.
Factory Five Racing Tour
The Eastwood Company, Pottstown, PA, to Syracuse Nationals, Syracuse, NY
The Syracuse Nationals is always a high point of the Road Tour summer season. With more than 8,000 special interest vehicles covering the New York State Fairgrounds for three days, there is plenty to see and do. The Factory Five Racing Tour will kick-off with a big get-together at The Eastwood Company. We'll visit Factory Five Racing in Wareham, Massachusetts on July 12, then travel through New England on our way to the big event. Update: The kick-off at The Eastwood Company will be from 10 am until 3 pm on Saturday July 9. There will be a show 'n' shine with special parking for Road Tour participants, product demos, and special sales in the Eastwood Company retail store. Everyone in the area is invited to join in the day's activities.
Shades of the Past Tour
NHRA US Nationals, Indianapolis, IN, to Shades of the Past, Pigeon Forge, TN
In the world of drag racing it doesn't get any bigger than the US Nationals in Indianapolis. We will be helping the NHRA celebrate its 60th Anniversary before heading to the famous Shades of the Past event in its new location at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge. Update: After our weekend at the US Nationals, we will pay a visit to the shop that built this year's Road Tour '55 Chevy. Chris Sondles and the folks at Woody's Hot Rodz have a great evening planned at their facilty in Bright, Indiana, near Cincinnati.
Lokar Midnight Tour
Lokar Performance Products, Knoxville, TN, to NSRA Street Rod Nationals North, Kalamazoo, MI
After the Shades of the Past event, we will spend the weekend in the Smoky Mountains. Heading out from the Lokar headquarters in Knoxville on Monday morning, we will make lots of cool stops on our way to the NSRA Nationals North in Kalamazoo. Update: After our Monday send off from the Lokar facility, it is a beautiful drive to Bristol, Tennessee. In Bristol, we will take a tour of one of the most famous tracks on the NSACAR schedule. The legendary Bristol Motor Speedway short track has been the scene of some of the most exciting races in stock car history.
Sherm's Custom Plating Tour
September 30-October 9
Los Angeles, CA, to NSRA Golden State Nationals, Sacramento, CA
We will be starting on Friday with tours of some of the most famous hot rod shops in the Los Angeles area. On Saturday, we will spend the day at the Nethercutt Automotive Museum, north of LA. Sherm's Plating President Gary Matranga always puts together plenty of great stops as we make our way to the NSRA Golden State Nationals in Sacramento. Update: Our Friday shop tours will include Kugel Komponents in La Habra. Jerry Kugel, his family and craftsmen are great folks with a long history of manufacturing quality components. They also are known for going very, very fast on the Bonneville salt.
NHRA Hot Rod Reunion Tour
Art Morrison Chassis, Fife, WA, to NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion, Bakersfield, CA
Beginning in the Pacific Northwest, the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion Tour will make stops at manufacturers and street rod shops in Washington, Oregon, and Northern California. Our destination is Famoso Raceway, north of Bakersfield, where we will help the NHRA celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the famous California Hot Rod Reunion. Update: One of the highlights of our trip through Oregon will be a visit to the Bob Drake Reproduction facilities in Grants Pass. The folks at Bob Drake have just completed one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken in our hobby: a complete reproduction steel '40 Ford coupe body. Care to guess who will be driving one during the summer of 2012?
