Monday morning we made a brief stop at the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum in Clinton. The displays are very informative and tell the story of early travelers on the highway between Chicago and Los Angeles. This beautiful Conoco gas station was built in 1936 and is now the offices of the Chamber of Commerce and Visitor's Bureau. The neon is fantastic as darkness settles on Route 66.  Darryl Starbird's Rod and...  Darryl Starbird's Rod and Custom Hall of Fame and Museum is located in Afton, OK, off of Interstate 44. Darryl and Donna Starbird cooked burgers on the grill in their backyard.  Darryl has been an innovator...  Darryl has been an innovator and trendsetter in our hobby for over 50 years. He met us in the lobby of the museum and gave us a personal tour of the entire facility. It's always great to be able to talk one on one with such a customizing legend.  Early Tuesday morning we stopped...  Early Tuesday morning we stopped at the Odd Rods street rod shop in Carl Junction near Joplin, MO. Rusty Jackson has been building street rods for the last 15 years and three years ago opened his own shop. His two Packard projects have gotten plenty of rave reviews over the past year.  Our tour at COMP Cams included...  Our tour at COMP Cams included the manufacturing facilities, and research and development departments of all of the divisions. It's very interesting to see what actually goes into the production of a camshaft from raw stock to finished product.
