We are leaning toward a '32-'34 Ford 3 window coupe. I believe in top notch quality and am willing to pay for it. However, everybody says that their glass body or chassis is the best. There are so many on the market that it is confusing. I have considered Kilbourne, Downs, N&N, Wescott, Outlaw, Street Beast. Any opinions out there? As a guy who is not up on street rod terms I have a few other questions: What is the difference between a "highboy" coupe or roadster and a standard? What is a "bobbed" frame? Does "c-notching" a frame lower the car? Thanks guys for any opinions out there to help us make this expensive decision.

The vehicle uses Premium Fuel (ouch). I have been thinking of dropping out the 350 Turbo and installing either a 700R4 Turbo or Tremec 5-Speed Transmission in it's place. Does anyone have an idea which would be a good transmission and why? Can I achieve saving gas with a Tremec 5-Speed as I can with a 700R4 Turbo Transmission? Up to this point, I was thinking of using strictly a 700R4 (I am 58-years old and not getting any younger, but I like the thought of still possibly using a stick vs an automatic as long as my left knee holds out - I just had the right knee completely replaced with Titanium and Teflon). The cable went to a reel in the control box, and it locked the reel when the unit was turned on. The magnetic lock got it's ground througn the brake light wire at the brake light switch. when the brake pedal was depressed, the brake light wire became hot, and the ground was lost, releasing the cable lock. The car (body, original frame and engine) was in his garage for 30 years, then he finally got it made soon before he died. Emotionally, we cannot bring ourselves to even show the car. We have decided to sell it, but need an appraisal. Can anyone recommend a good appraiser with a proven reputation that we can use to price the vehicle, which we have in our garage in New Jersey? Thank you!

But it won't run this year. (I know, I'm late.) I've sprayed Gumout around the linkages and choke. Plenty of gas squirts into the carb when I operate the linkage, and the engine runs (mightily and smoky) for a couple seconds, but then it dies. Could the Holly mechanical fuel pump or Fram fuel filter be gummed up? It had a longer than usual rest this year. I hate to pull it all apart unless I have to. I'm hoping it's something simple that I'm not doing. Any thoughts.

It will use a 4 cylinder engine and 5 speed trans. The total weight will be less than 1500 pounds. I would like to use a dropped straight axle as apposed to a IFS. I am looking for pros and cons as I have no experience with straight axles. I do have many years with drag racing suspensions ("A"arm and strut types). I want to build a very basic/simple car somewhere between a rat rod and a nice rod. I am looking to drive accross country from time to time.
