Man, it's been hotter than heck over the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately, us So Cal folk weren't the only ones baking in well over 100-degree weather-looks like everyone got a taste. Needless to say, the upward of 116-degree heat (for 18 consecutive days) we had out in the Inland Empire where I'm located slowed my butt down a whole heck of a lot (that and a week out at the NSRA Nats in Louisville). So, looks like I've still gotta bit to do to finish up the suspension. All I got done by deadline this time around was the rear-the front I'll have to do this coming weekend. Oh well, so much for schedules.
What I did accomplish was the installation of a Speedway Engineering Universal Panhard bar and brackets and a pair of Speedway lower rear shock mounts. As is true with everything I've gotten from Speedy Bill, this stuff was top-notch and worked perfectly for me. Now I know every time someone mentions the word "universal" most get a bit queasy, but in the case of a Panhard bar, the only thing that'll need modification (in some cases) is the bar length. Everything else fits without any heartache.
The lower shock mounting brackets are truly universal. All you need to do is order them for the correct diameter axle tubes and you're home free. Then you need to locate 'em correctly and weld 'em on. The upper rear shock mounting was, in my case, fabricated from scratch-though it's an easy task. That said, let's take a look at what I did last weekend.
