The last things you want are insert pieces rattling against the walls of the headers, or more importantly, coming loose and shooting out the end of the header when ya hit the gas. If you really wanna tone down your exhaust note, the company can supply you with a couple of high-quality packing materials that are perfect for the job. You can opt for some really heavy high-temperature `glass insulation or some stainless steel packing if you prefer. And having the stuff on hand gives you some good alternatives that can be used to fine-tune the exhaust note before permanently attaching the inserts to the headers.  The stainless packing resembles...  The stainless packing resembles regular old steel wool in appearance alone. This stuff is a bit heavier and will not disintegrate nearly instantly as regular steel wool often does.  The other option, the `glass...  The other option, the `glass packing, is high-quality stuff as well. It's packaged with a couple of sections of foil and a set of stainless wires used to hold the wrapping in place. As you might imagine, the `glass packing quiets down the exhaust note quite a bit relative to the stainless steel packing.  As is the case with the stainless,...  As is the case with the stainless, the 'glass packing is wrapped around the core tube between the discs.  Once wound, it's then covered...  Once wound, it's then covered with a layer of foil protectant that aids in keeping the glass from blowing out, and like the stainless steel packing, the `glass and foil packing is held in place by a winding of stainless steel wire.  Just as an illustration I...  Just as an illustration I wrapped one chamber with the stainless packing and one with 'glass packing. Your taste in volume will dictate which you choose, if you choose to use any at all.  As you can see, I prefer my...  As you can see, I prefer my exhaust note a little more on the obnoxious side so I removed my sample packing's and will install the CC Insert as shown. Hey, what's a hot rod without a healthy bark?  And there ya have it--one...  And there ya have it--one header down and one to go! I'll tell ya, this is the way to go if you've got your heart set on a header only system, and thanks to Car Chemistry we can now run our hot rods this way without collecting a glove box full of traffic citations!
